Frequently Asked Questions

Short answers to what store owners ask most about Product View in AR. Longer walkthroughs live in Tutorials, and the per-field detail is in Configuration.

Do shoppers need an app to view a product in AR?

No. Android opens Google's Scene Viewer and iPhone and iPad open AR Quick Look, and both are part of the operating system. There is nothing to install and no account to create. The camera permission is granted to the phone's own viewer, not to your store.

Which file formats do I need?

Two per product. A .glb drives the on-page 3D viewer and AR on Android. A .usdz drives AR on iPhone and iPad. They are not alternatives, so attach both and every device is covered.

Why is the Photos and 3D View toggle missing on one product?

The on-page viewer renders the .glb file, so a product carrying only a .usdz gets the AR button and no toggle on any device. Check the AR Models column on the Products screen, and the Complete (Both) card on the dashboard.

What happens on a desktop computer?

The 3D viewer works normally, and the View in AR button opens a QR code for that product instead. Scanning it opens the product on a phone, where AR launches for real. With the QR hand-off off, the AR button is hidden on desktop.

Does the plugin slow down my store?

No, on pages without a model. The 3D library and the model file load only on a product that actually has one, so a store with three AR products ships them on three pages. Keep model files under about 10MB.

What data does view tracking collect?

The product, whether the view was 3D or AR, whether the device was mobile or desktop, and a random session id kept in the browser. No name, email, IP address or account is recorded, and tracking can be switched off entirely on the Analytics tab.

Can each variation have its own model?

Yes, in the Pro version. Variations are listed individually on the Products screen and each takes its own pair of files, so the viewer swaps as the shopper changes the dropdown. Variable products still work on the free version, they just take one model that every variation shares.

I attached models but the product page shows nothing. Why?

Check the License tab first. On the Pro version the storefront loads no plugin assets until the license is active, while every admin screen keeps working. After that check Enable/Disable on the General tab.

What does the free version include?

The 3D viewer, the AR button on Android and iOS, and the poster image while a model loads. Also the Photos and 3D toggle with its two colours, both simple and variable products, the Products screen with its filters and badges, the setup wizard, and the model coverage dashboard. Auto-rotation, dimensions, button styling, the desktop QR code, per-variation models and analytics are Pro.
